At SocialStar, we respect your right to control your data. This page provides comprehensive instructions for deleting your data from our platform. You can request deletion of specific social media account data or delete your entire SocialStar account and all associated data.
Important: Data deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Please ensure you have exported any data you wish to keep before proceeding.
What Data Will Be Deleted?
When you request data deletion, the following information will be permanently removed:
- Account Information: Your name, email, profile picture, and account settings
- Social Media Data: All posts, comments, metrics, and insights from connected accounts
- Scheduled Posts: All draft and scheduled content
- Analytics Data: Historical performance data, reports, and insights
- AI-Generated Content: Any content suggestions or AI-generated text
- Access Tokens: All OAuth tokens and API connections will be revoked
- Preferences: Notification settings, dashboard configurations, and user preferences
Method 1: Delete Your Entire Account
This will permanently delete your SocialStar account and all associated data.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Log in to your SocialStar account
Visit SocialStar and sign in with your credentials.
- Navigate to Settings
Click on your profile icon in the top right corner and select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
- Go to Account Settings
In the Settings page, find the "Account" or "Danger Zone" section at the bottom.
- Click "Delete Account"
Look for the "Delete Account" button (usually displayed in red).
- Confirm Deletion
Read the warning carefully, type your password or confirmation phrase, and click "Permanently Delete Account".
- Check Your Email
You will receive a confirmation email. Your account and data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
⚠️ Important Notes:
- Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
- You will lose access to all data, reports, and scheduled posts
- If you have an active subscription, it will be cancelled (no refunds for remaining time)
- Some data may be retained in backups for up to 90 days for technical and legal reasons
Method 2: Disconnect a Social Media Account
If you only want to remove data from a specific social media platform while keeping your SocialStar account:
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Log in to SocialStar
Access your dashboard.
- Go to Connections
Navigate to Settings → Social Media Connections or find the "Connected Accounts" section.
- Select the Account
Find the social media account you want to disconnect (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
- Click "Disconnect" or "Remove"
Each connected account should have a disconnect button.
- Confirm Disconnection
Confirm that you want to disconnect the account and delete its data.
- Revoke App Permissions (Optional but Recommended)
For complete removal, also revoke SocialStar's access from the social media platform's settings (see instructions below).
Method 3: Request Data Deletion via Email
If you cannot access your account or prefer to request deletion via email:

- Your full name
- Your SocialStar account email address
- Specific request (full account deletion or specific social media account)
- Reason for deletion (optional but helpful)
- Any additional information to verify your identity if needed

We will respond within 48 hours and complete the deletion within 30 days.

Revoking App Permissions from Social Media Platforms
For complete removal, we recommend also revoking SocialStar's access from the social media platform's settings. This ensures no future data can be accessed.
Facebook/Instagram
- Go to Facebook Settings → Security and Login → Apps and Websites
- Find "SocialStar" in the list
- Click "Remove" or "View and Edit"
- Click "Remove App" and confirm
Twitter/X
- Go to Settings → Security and account access → Apps and sessions
- Find "SocialStar" under "Connected apps"
- Click "Revoke app permissions"
Google (YouTube)
- Go to Google Account Permissions
- Find "SocialStar" in the list of third-party apps
- Click "Remove Access"
TikTok
- Go to Settings → Security and privacy → Manage apps
- Find "SocialStar"
- Click "Remove access"
- Go to Settings → Data privacy → Other applications
- Find "SocialStar"
- Click "Remove"
Data Deletion Timeline
- Immediate: Access to your account is revoked
You can no longer log in or access the Service
- Within 24-48 hours: Active data removal begins
Your profile, settings, and real-time data are deleted from active systems
- Within 7 days: Social media data removal
All posts, analytics, and social media account data are deleted
- Within 30 days: Complete deletion
All data is removed from production databases and systems
- Up to 90 days: Backup removal
Data may remain in encrypted backups for disaster recovery purposes, then permanently deleted
What Data May Be Retained?
Some limited data may be retained for legal, security, or operational reasons:
- Transaction Records: Payment history and invoices (required for tax and accounting purposes)
- Legal Compliance: Data required to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes
- Anonymized Data: Aggregated, non-identifiable analytics data for service improvement
- Security Logs: IP addresses and access logs for fraud prevention (retained for 180 days)
- Communications: Support tickets and email correspondence related to legal matters
This retained data cannot be used to identify you personally and is kept to the minimum necessary.
Before You Delete: Export Your Data
We recommend downloading your data before deletion. To export your data:
- Go to Settings → Data & Privacy
- Click "Export My Data"
- Select the data types you want to export
- Click "Request Export"
- You will receive an email with a download link (usually within 24 hours)
Your exported data will include account information, social media metrics, scheduled posts, and analytics reports in JSON/CSV format.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I recover my account after deletion?
No, account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You will need to create a new account if you want to use SocialStar again.
Will deletion affect my social media accounts?
No, deleting your SocialStar account does not affect your actual social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. Your posts and data on those platforms remain unchanged.
What happens to scheduled posts?
All scheduled posts are cancelled and deleted. They will not be published. If you want them published, please wait until after they post or publish them manually before deleting your account.
Will I be charged after deletion?
No, any active subscriptions will be cancelled immediately. However, you will not receive a refund for any remaining time in your billing period.
How do I verify my deletion request?
If requesting via email, we may ask you to verify your identity by replying from your registered email address or providing account details. This ensures we only delete data at the request of the actual account owner.
Can I delete only specific data?
